Our strengths and culture
- A truly international firm
We currently have offices across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, with half our people based in offices outside of the UK. Our offices have grown with local lawyers who understand each country’s culture, business and language. We actively encourage our people to explore opportunities overseas through a programme of international and client secondments. See Our Locations.
- Our enviable client list
Our lawyers benefit from exposure to some of the world’s leading companies, financial institutions and most innovative businesses and have the opportunity to work alongside key people at these organisations. Our client base includes a significant number of the current FTSE100 and Fortune Global 500 companies. We advise the top 10 investment banks, many of the world’s largest financial conglomerates, more than half of the top 60 European hedge fund managers and 13 of the top 20 US hedge fund managers. Our clients typically rank among the top 20 largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
- Growth markets
Our reach extends beyond our network of offices to emerging markets into which we are looking to expand. We have established Growth Market Groups in China, the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. Over the next few years we will be focusing on our coordination of these teams and strengthening relationships with local law firms to ensure we continue to meet the needs of clients wishing to do business in those markets.
- Innovative approach
We pride ourselves on our innovative approach: from landmark deals and cases, through online services and knowhow, to new delivery models, we have a strong track record of innovation. Simmons & Simmons was ranked 17th overall in the FT 50: Law Firm Innovators 2013. You can view a full electronic copy of the Report here.
- High performance culture
It is essential that everybody understands how they contribute to our firm’s success and how they can progress their careers. With this in mind, we have established a career framework with clear expectations at each level, underpinned by a simple performance management process. This means a strong and clear career path for our people, with accelerated progression for the best performers.
- Working environment
Our working environment is genuinely collegiate with a supportive atmosphere and team ethos. Our people get to learn and develop alongside the highest-quality professionals – many of whom are considered the best in their field. Our reputation for excellence means that our clients bring us their toughest business challenges.
- Inclusive and diverse
We are committed to ensuring our organisation and profession more widely is accessible to people from a diverse range of backgrounds and circumstances. We seek continuous improvement in developing a diverse and collegiate culture in which equal opportunities are genuinely open to all. We are the only law firm to be named as a Stonewall Star Performer; the highest accolade offered in Stonewall’s UK Workplace Equality Index. In 2017 we were ranked as a Top Global Employer; one of only twelve to receive this accreditation. We are one of the Top 30 Employers for Working Families in 2017.
