Airport Lawyer Joins

28 Jun 2000

International law firm, Simmons & Simmons has recently recruited a senior lawyer for its expanding Development & Construction Group in Hong Kong.

Brett Vincent joins Simmons & Simmons from Sydney Airports Corporation Limited ("Sydney Airports") where he was senior in-house counsel. During his tenure with Sydney Airports, Brett was responsible for advising on the construction work for the AU$800 million upgrade of Sydney Airport, needed for the Sydney Olympics in September 2000. He also advised on operational issues at Sydney Airports.

Admitted in Australia for over 7 years, Brett has been extensively involved in both litigious and non-litigious work in respect of roads, railways, airports and buildings. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Brett worked in the building industry as a Site Engineer and Consultant Project Manager on some of Sydney's most prestigious buildings.

Philip Nunn, Head of the Development & Construction Group, commented, "We are very pleased to welcome Brett to Simmons & Simmons in Hong Kong. We believe Brett's experience gives him an insider's knowledge of the way in which airport authorities operate and an understanding of the legal issues which arise between airport authorities and the parties they deal closely with such as government agencies, contractors, consultants and airlines. This will assist us on both existing and future transactions involving this important sector of industry."
