Unitor and BP Marine form innovative marine alliance
Unitor ASA (a company quoted on the Norwegian Stock Exchange) was recently advised by Simmons & Simmons on its entry into a joint venture and outsourcing arrangement with BP Marine (part of BP Amoco plc) to form a unique marketing alliance which will offer a combined range of products to ship operators on a global basis, with a view to making the alliance a one-stop shop for marine supplies globally.
The joint venture is to be called Marine Alliance and will be rolled out to 18,000 vessels currently supplied by BP Marine and Unitor during the remainder of 2000, with deliveries being co-ordinated through Unitor's existing global logistic system, covering 80 countries around the world. The venture also provides for the IT systems of BP Marine and Unitor to become a technical platform for the joint venture and logistics operations.
The Simmons & Simmons team was led by partner Mark Dewar (Commercial), and included partner Monica Ma (Pensions).
