Yves Baratte ranked second in Francophone Africa lawyers list

International law firm Simmons & Simmons is pleased to announce that one of its partners has been ranked second (out of 50) in the prestigious French magazine “Jeune Afrique”. The ranking recognises lawyers who have had the most significant impact on business in Francophone Africa over the past year.
Yves Baratte heads the firm’s Francophone Africa projects practice. He has been recognised for his key role in over a dozen African countries and for the quality of his clients and of his work.
His diverse client base includes governments, international corporate clients, funds and financial institutions. He advises them on complex power, energy, water, mining and infrastructure projects internationally, with a particular focus on North and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Recent high profile projects include advising the Chinese consortium bidding for Inga 3, a major hydro power project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, valued at more than €10 billion; and the Djibouti Ports and Free Zone Authority on a billion-dollar joint-venture with Chinese state-owned entities.
