Simmons & Simmons has today announced the appointment of Aaron Patience, corporate and commercial lawyer, to lead its Tokyo office. He will join the firm in Autumn 2018*.
Aaron has spent the majority of his career working in the Simmons & Simmons Tokyo office and moves back from the New Zealand-based law firm, Kensington Swan, where he has been working since 2016 as head of the Japan practice.
With over 12 years’ experience in cross-border investment involving Japan, Aaron’s expertise lies in assisting Japanese corporates investing (and divesting) in Europe, APAC and the Middle East. He also works with international corporates investing into Japan.
Aaron specialises in transactions with an important IP element, particularly in the TMT and Life Sciences sectors; two of the firm's four core priority sectors. He is a fluent Japanese speaker and, through his many years of living and working in Japan, has a deep understanding of the nuances of Japanese business culture.
Ian Wood, head of Simmons & Simmons corporate and commercial practice in Asia says: “We are all very excited to have Aaron return to the firm. Aaron is a highly reputable and knowledgeable lawyer, with a wealth of experience within and around the region. I look forward to working with Aaron as we continue to enhance our offering to clients and grow our sector focus.”
