Cindy deals private equity investment fund structuring, fund raising, co-investment arrangements, management buyouts, start-ups and alternative structures including a specialised focus on permanent capital vehicles. Her experience covers a wide range of funds, including large buyout and mid-market funds, renewable energy, infrastructure, venture funds, fund of funds and emerging market funds. Cindy advises both private equity houses and investors.
Cindy has a core focus on emerging markets, in particular Africa and she has an in depth understanding of fundraising in African markets. Her diverse range of clients includes blue chip GPs, investors, international finance institutions and development finance institutions. She works on a daily basis with investors targeting emerging markets, including DFIs. This includes extensive experience in negotiating with US investors.
Cindy sits on the Legal & Technical committees of EMPEA and AVCA.

- advising The PIDG Trust (the members of which comprise numerous DFIs/ donor funds including IFC, KPW, SIDA, FMO and DFID) on the investment management agreements for the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund and Guarantco
- advising EBRD on its Euro 1bn equity participation fund.
Cindy qualified as an attorney at a leading Johannesburg law firm in 2004. She relocated to London in 2005 where she qualified as a solicitor and worked in the international funds team at a leading European private equity law firm, where she worked for 12 years. Cindy has been a partner since 2011 and has been based between South Africa and London since 2012.
She has been extensively published and was the winner of the Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards for 2015 in the category ‘Best in Private Equity’.
