Erwin specialises in cross-border restructuring and insolvency work, focussing on assisting various stakeholders, such as creditors, management, shareholders and potential purchasers and investors. Erwin’s experience in this respect ranges from advising on restructuring and transaction situations to strategy and litigation in respect of potential liability. His clients include all major financial institutions as well as hedge funds and similar investors.
After spending a year in the USA, Erwin attended and graduated from the University of Maastricht, where he received his master’s in law in 2000. He went on to teach and complete his PhD research, obtaining his doctorate in 2005.
In April 2005, he joined a leading international magic circle firm in Amsterdam. In 2011, he spent several months on secondment at Rabobank, as part of its special credits group (‘bijzonder beheer’). He joined Simmons & Simmons in July 2016.
