Dr Robert Verburg
Robert specialises in Dispute Resolution, with a focus on the financial sector. Robert frequently acts and advises in financial and commercial disputes and has significant experience in dealing with cross border matters. He has acted for financial services companies, asset managers, manufacturing companies and medical companies. He has regularly advised on class action disputes, liability issues concerning financial products and services and prospectus liability issues. Robert also regularly advises on commercial contracts.

- acting for a US financial institution in a multi-jurisdiction prospectus liability case relating to a €13.4bn rights issue by Fortis in 2007
- acting for a Russian company held by a US asset manager that acquired an asset out of the bankruptcy estate of Russian oil company Yukos Oil in multiple proceedings in the legal aftermath of that bankruptcy
- acting for a water treatment company in damages claims brought by a plastics manufacturer and its insurer.
Prior to Simmons & Simmons, Robert worked for 12 years at another international law firm. In 2009 Robert finished his doctoral thesis in law at Leiden University, the Netherlands.
